Te Runanganui o Ngati Hikairo and Te Tini o Kawhia Trust are pleased to announce the completion of Te Tahuanui: Ngati Hikairo Heritage Management Plan.

The plan is part of a larger project that began as an idea of the Resource Management Comittee (RMC) back in 2005. The RMC identified a need to improve ways that we communicate with councils and protect Maori cultural heritage areas within our rohe. Since that time many of our Koroheke and Ruruhi have been interviewed, all the written resources relating to our cultural and historical areas have been found and researched and over 300 sites have been GPS mapped. A database has been developed which will hold this information into the future.

We would like to acknowledge the financial support we have received to complete this project from the New Zealand Lotteries Grants Board and Te Puni Kokiri. Nga mihi nui ki koutou katoa.

We hope that you find Te Tahuanui: Ngati Hikairo Heritage Management Plan an interesting and useful resource for whatever reason that brought you here to find it. You are welcome to download a copy of the Plan; but please respect out copy right requests posted here on this site and in the document.

No reira Tena Koutou Katoa
