This is the official website of Ngāti Hikairo ki Kawhia. All whānau and first time visitors to our site are welcome. Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa.
Ngāti Hikairo ki Kāwhia is the iwi to which this website is dedicated. We are an independent iwi of Tainui Waka origin and always have and will continue to maintain our mana motuhake and tino rangatiratanga in Kāwhia, Ōpārau and Waipā in the King Country and Waikato regions. The iwi authority is Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Hikairo. Ngāti Hikairo is a confederation of hapū which include the following:
Te Whānau Pani, Ngāti Te Mihinga, Ngāti Horotakere, Ngāti Pare, Ngāti Rāhui, Ngāti Purapura, Ngāti Wai, Te Matewai, Ngāti Parehinga, Ngāti Whatitiri, Ngāti Puhiawe, Ngāti Hineue, Ngāti Te Uru, Ngāti Pōkaia, Ngāti Ngāti, Ngā Uri-a-Te Makaho, Te Whānau-o-Te Ake, Ngāti Ngāti, Ngāti Taiuru, Ngāti Waikaha, Ngāti Huritake, Ngāti Wai, Ngāti Paretaikō, Ngāti Te Rahopupuwai
The marae located within the rohe of Ngāti Hikairo are the following:

You may have already registered with Waikato Tainui, however, this is a specific registration for the people of Ngāti Hikairo. It is especially important at this time when we are processing our Treaty claim. We want to ensure all of our iwi are registered – men, women and children.
