Te Rūnanganui o Ngati Hikairo was registered as an Incorporated Society in 1995. It sets out the moemoea, the governance structures and processes for Ngāti Hikairo within the Incorporated Societies Act 1908.

Each year the Executive Committee of the Rūnanganui holds elections at the Hui-a-Tau.
