As previously advised, there are concerns about the stability of Te Papa o Karewa and its ability to weather further storms. Following discussion with arborists, engineers, iwi and locals, the decision was made to apply support structures to the large overhanging branch. Otorohanga District Council have arranged for the recommended metal support structures to be made by a local engineering firm. At this time, as a precaution, a temporary wooden brace is being used. Protection barriers will also be put in place to keep the public out of the area.
